Vicious Rumors Returns To Their Roots With Celebration Decay

Vicious Rumors Returns To Their Roots With Celebration Decay

I’ve known Vicious Rumors founding member Geoff Thorpe since my sophomore year in high school.  That was 32 years ago.  Carl Albert was one of the best singers in metal and still is after his passing..

Vicious Rumors has gone through a ton of lineup changes over 35 years.  Even Vinnie Moore was in the band at one time.  VR has always put out quality high powered metal that always has the VR sound.  Thorpe is always 100% in control when recording a VR album.  You must realize that before you go into the studio.

With Celebration Decay, I believe Thorpe has returned to the old school sound of VR with the additions of young guitar whiz Gunnar DuGrey Richardson and vocalist Nick Courtney.

Not discounting previous VR albums, but Celebration Decay sounds like it could’ve been released between Digital Dictator and their self-titled release from Atlantic Records.  At 21, Gunnar has a great future ahead of him and he’s already amassed quite a following on social media. Nick’s voice compliments Celebration Decay and the VR sound.

Why VR never got the accolades they deserve like other bay area bands have and didn’t deserve remains a big mystery to this writer.  Check out Celebration Decay available starting August 21st everywhere.

Current Line-Up:
Nick Courtney – vocals
Geoff Thorpe – guitars
Gunnar Dügrey – guitars
Robin Utbult – bass
Larry Howe – drums
