Former Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss has surfaced joining Demi Lovato’s touring band recently.
Nita has been good for the industry. She has many female players that look up to her, and she’s very good at networking and being at the right place at the right time. Horny men, 11-100 will act as if they’ve never seen a woman play guitar before and the lovely gents at the Guitar World bloviate over her to which I think they’re rubbing one out every time they write about her. Sources close to the Alice Cooper camp said that she was almost fired on three different occasions. We can’t independently verify that.
Is Nita that good that she deserves all of this attention? No, and people in the industry will tell you so privately. All of this attention and bloviating could go towards other guitarists that are blazing the trails such as Courtney Cox of The Iron Maidens, Jessica Faulchi, Gretchen Menn, and Sophie Burrell amongst others.
Am I hating on Nita? Not at all. Do I think she’s over-featured? Absolutely. My Editor and I have a difference of opinion on this matter. You won’t see Guitar World touch the Evan Rubinson story with a ten-foot pole. That would upset Ernie Ball and Ibanez their two biggest advertisers.
They’ll continue with their endless bloviating about her.
