Since 2011, Nikki Law has made a name for herself as one of the most passionate, driven, and motivated publicists in metal, heading up countless campaigns first for Century Media and then Metal Blade Records. Now she has entered the next exciting phase of her career, going out on her own with Breaking The Law PR, launching the company with an enviable roster from the get-go, and bringing her unique skills to bear for all those under her purview.
Earning her BA in Literary Journalism at UC Irvine, Nikki always aspired to work in the heavier end of the music industry. Through networking in the SoCal metal scene, she eventually met Century Media’s head of PR, who following her graduation in 2010 took her on as an intern, this eventually becoming a job, hiring her as a tour publicist. This role steadily blossomed and she rose through the ranks, representing the label on the Grammy Awards Committee in 2013 and 2014 and handling product management on two of the biggest pre-orders in CM distro history. With bands such as Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Paradise Lost, and Tribulation in her hands, she helped push the label ever onward.
Leaving Century Media on a high in 2015 she became Director Of Publicity at Metal Blade Records, where she would stay until late 2021. During her tenure she obtained 20+ magazine covers, plus TV appearances and radio coverage for assigned artists, and worked with media to obtain “viral” content, successfully raising the label’s profile while simultaneously lowering advertising costs. Particularly proud of campaigns she ran for the likes of Amon Amarth, Whitechapel, Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, and The Black Dahlia Murder, she also coordinated all of Metal Blade’s live streams during the pandemic, which took a great deal of work and coordination.
Now, she presses on with a roster that includes Undeath, Arch Enemy, Herman Li, Corpsegrinder, Decibel Magazine, Haunt, Midnight, Night Demon, and more, bringing her positive attitude and drive to deliver the highest standards to every campaign. With her reputation the company is destined to only grow in profile, bringing the best in representation to all who become her clients.
