Described as “simply a fantastic band” ( Garry Foster, The Prog Files), [having] “an excellent atmosphere, and though ‘heavy’ still accessible to those with lighter tastes” (Bob Progmore, progrock.com), AXIOM is set to release their debut E.P. Metathesis at the end of 2019 after spending 12 months wowing audiences across the UK.
After exploding onto the live music circuit in 2018 and finding themselves opening for Toska, Monuments, I The Mighty, SÜMER and on the main stage of HRH Prog festival within months of performing live, Metathesis is the result of an unexpected demand from the bands’ audiences.
The release captures a band in its inception with all the might and intimacy of a live performance.
After performing at Birmingham’s O2 institute the band was approached by Wales-based producer Michael Jensen Després. Rapid chemistry was established between the band and Michael and it was decided that they would enter the studio together to try and capture the bands live energy.
The E.P. was captured ‘live in the studio’ (the band performing the songs together at the same time) over 24 hours before being mixed and mastered.
Michaels production lends honesty to the final mixes aesthetic while delivering clarity to the details in the bands’ compositions, all without compromising what AXIOM do best.
To achieve these rehearsal recordings provided to him in pre-production were blended into the mixes, as well as subtle stereo imaging effects achieved by synthesizing aspects of the guitar and drums.
Formed in early 2017, AXIOM is a Birmingham based instrumental progressive rock band created by 3 bearded buddies.
- Josh Ainsworth (Drums)
- Stuart Drinkwater (bass)
- Zaid Crowe (guitar)
