From Dropping Legacy Artists, Dimes Lawsuit, To The COO Being Arrested & Convicted On Child Porn Charges, The Fall Of Dean Guitars

By John Sullivan,

With Elliot Rubinson’s untimely death due to brain cancer, Evan Rubinson stepped into his father’s shoes to operate Dean Guitars.  What was Evan’s first order of business?

That depends on who you ask.  He started purging Dean’s roster of the ‘legacy’ artists with Rusty Cooley.  During that time, Rubinson had gone back and forth with our Twitter account making absolutely no sense and we couldn’t really understand what he was trying to say.  Uli Jon Roth and Andy from King Diamond left after Elliott’s passing.  That’s when Evan started hiring back all of the people his dad had previously terminated.

Michael Angelo Batio, perhaps the biggest cheerleader of Dean Guitars, was shown the door.  Vinnie Moore, Tracii Guns, Uli Jon Roth left after seeing the writing on the wall.

The biggest headline that Rubinson tried to keep out of the news was his former COO Wayne Odell, was arrested on 50 counts of posessing child pornogrphy and only served two years in prison with the high powered law firm the Rubinsons hired to defend him.  One has to reasonably wonder, how long Odell was posessing child porn and if the Rubinsons knew about his demented behavior?

The bombshell interview we did with a former Dean Guitars Executive last year confirmed alot of what’s in the current lawsuit from Dime’s estate and longtime partner filed on Monday.

It would be one thing that the accustaions Rita claims were just one person saying that.  When you have previous emoloyees and endorsees say pretty much the same thing, one has to wonder if there’s truth to this?

The actions of Rubinson hurt the most are the remaining employees ar Dean Guitars and it’s subsideraies.

Dave Mustaine, Michael Angelo Batio, Vinnie Moore, Andy LaRoque, Tracii Guns, Uli Jon Roth, Rusty Cooley have all left under Evan’s watch.

In the grand scheme of guitar companies, Dean really isn’t a blip on the radar from Gibson and it’s affilites, Fender and it’s affilliates, Kiesel, PRS, and many others.

With our experience with Lance Benedict and his TTM Guitars scam, Rubinson can be assured the FBI will look into this civil complaint to see if there’s any crimina wrongdoing.

How long will Dean last with Evan Rubinson at the helm?
