As a special holiday homage to one of his favorite bands, guitarist ANDY TIMMONS has released a solo arrangement of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “You Take My Breath Away,” which can be seen on his official YouTube page.
“It’s such a joy to see such an outpouring of love for Queen with the release of their great biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. I grew up with the records A NIGHT AT THE OPERA and A DAY AT THE RACES and listening today, they are even more inspiring than ever! To listen now with experienced ear, it’s so breathtaking to hear the amount of passion, incredibly hard work and musical brilliance it took to create these masterpieces.”
Meanwhile, the classic debut instrumental record from ANDY TIMMONS, ear X-tacy, was released last August on CD for the first time in 16 years via his official website. It’s also available on iTunes and all digital platforms. The collection includes three bonus tracks, one of which is the gorgeous backing track for TIMMONS’ most well-known song to date, “Cry For You.”
After re-discovering the original mix tapes, TIMMONS realized how much better they sounded than the original 1994 mastering that was released. “Since it was coming up on the 25th anniversary, I thought the timing was right to re-release this much improved sonic version,” he explains. “It’s quite a trip to revisit how I played all those years ago. I had just left Danger Danger and I was very much wanting to establish myself as an instrumental guitarist in the footsteps of my heroes such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson.”
One of those legendary guitarists recognized the brilliance of his solo material. Steve Vai praised, “ANDY TIMMONS is one of those rare guitar players that play all the best right notes. His intonation is stunning and that enables his delicious tone to be seductive and comfortable on the ear. Everything resonates so beautifully, but then again, we are what we play and he is that.” Vai even handed his guitar to TIMMONS in a special moment during a 2016 concert in Dallas, TX, which was thankfully recorded and can be seen here.
Meanwhile, ANDY TIMMONS—who has also played with the likes of Kip Winger, Simon Phillips, and Olivia Newton-John–now shares those “best right notes” with fans on his guitar lesson website, GuitarXperience.net.
“It’s so gratifying (and so much fun really) to share my lifetime of guitar experience. The response from subscribers has been amazing and I’ve even noticed a huge improvement in my own playing from the process of teaching!”
Much more than a guitar lesson site, TIMMONS shares details about every aspect of his musical past, present, and future. This site appeals to the most ardent student, as well as the casual fan. Insightful and entertaining, this is a unique opportunity to“hang out” with ANDY TIMMONS and hear lots of music, personal stories, and see rare videos and photos.
