Alter Bridge’s Mark Tremonti Discusses ‘Walk The Sky’ & Any Possible Creed Reunion

Mark Tremonti is the type of musician anyone would want in their band.  Disciplined, hardworking and principled, Mark is an excellent songwriter as well as being an excellent guitarist. Mark will eventually land into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame during his career. Myles and Mark make magic together musically.  I spoke with Mark about Walk The Sky.

On the new album, did you demo the songs beforehand, or did You and miles write while in the studio?

MT: We did the demos beforehand cause we didn’t have a lot of time to work in the studio in between our projects.

How do you divide up the songwriting?

MT: Miles and I split it 50-50.  We turn in completed songs, the band would learn them in the studio. And we’d tweak them to sound like Alter Bridge from that point on.

Do you like the lyric videos vers traditional ones?

MT: We like to do keep the fanbase engaged as we come upon the release of the new album.  That way, they’re staying online waiting for new songs to come out.

I know you’re always writing songs.  Are any of the new songs on the new album ones that you’ve had for a while?

MT: Most of it is new when we’re demoing.  Some of it is stuff I had.

What’s your favorite song on the new album?

MT:  A song called Godspeed. I wrote that about a friend of mine who passed away last year by the name of Seth Luker.  Seth passed away at an early age of colon cancer and managed a band I Co-Produced years ago.  I thought it was a beautiful tribute to him.

Do you have any new products to be announced at NAMM 2020?

MT:  Nothing is coming out at NAMM this year.  We’re digging in the MT100 right now.  I’ve looked at two or three versions. I’ve pretty much told them  I want it to sound just like the MT15 but with the headroom of a hundred-watt. I will be trying another version here tomorrow.

Have you had any conversations with Scott Stapp recently?

MT: I spoke with Scott about two months ago.  I’m glad he’s doing good, and his new record sounds good from what I’ve heard.

Would you ever consider a Creed reunion?

MT:  Between Alter Bridge and Tremonti, my schedule is quite full, and I wish Scott well.  I said never last time, and we ended up doing a Creed reunion.  Never say never.

What are your plans for 2020?

MT:  Nonstop Alter Bridge touring.  We’re going to be touring nonstop all next year.

Walk The Sky will be available on October 18, 2019.  Pre-Order your copy today.
